Well, I wanted to sit down and get out an update today, on Hans' day off, since I have time now at almost 9. The week has flown by. We got home last Wednesday and our weekend was jam packed! Friday, I went to a card party at church and had fun getting to know some new friends. This week we are having "mom time" and going to Olive Garden for fun! We have had some fun with seeing the TPCC kids out here. I have been introducing them as our adopted little brother or sister! Some of them came to Mount Pulaski this weekend to worship with us!
Oh, and we have excepted the offer on our house- praise God! It failed the inspection the first time because we did not have all the utillities turned on, so they were able to get it reinspected last week and there were some things that came up. I know that is normal because that is what inspectors do, but we are praying for what the buyers will have us do and how they will react. This is all so new to us it is hard not to panic. God is bigger than all this and he is in control.
Dad, Ann and Whit came over to the BIG town of Lincoln to see the Balloon & Art Festival- too bad it rained or was overcast most of Saturday. We still had fun hanging out with them. Abe saw dad get off his Harley and yelled "Pappy!" Then he saw Ann and whit and yelled " Whit 'n' Nanny!" (which sounded like all one word.)
We had our first big event with the students this weekend. We went to an area youth gathering called the Reverence. It was a lot of fun. Here are some things that I learned:
1. Get directions from the person who invites you and not the computer or someone who "thinks they know". We drove around for an hour trying to find the church but it only took us 30 minutes to get home!
2. Abe will act like he is in highschool around highschool kids! He had so much fun, I had to carry him over my shoulder to get him to eat dinner. They had a blow up obstacle course, which he loved! Hans took him on it a few times and then some of our kids did, too. During worship, he got to dance which was fun to watch! Faith like a child!
3. Count before you pull away from the parking lot! I spent our trip home praying we did not forget anyone!! Hans and I were so excited that we forgot to do a head count. Thankfully there was nothing to report, we brought everyone back that we took!
All in all, the night was a success. We got to know the new sponsors pretty well, and we bonded with some students. They are hungry for some consistency in ministers, they have said as much to us as the Elders and Sr. Minister has. We are excited about this coming year. Still, we have a lot to do, but are still geared up and ready to go.
We placed our membership at Mount Pulaski, too. When we went up, the minister looked at us and asked if we were baptized and Hans was circumsized- hehehehehe! Funny guy. I am glad he made us laugh because I was a little nervous. I was also a little emotional (should that surprise you), looking out in the crowd, I saw the future in our ministry, all the students that are left in our care and I also saw the past of our ministry, the TPCC kids that were sitting in the crowd. A full cricle moment for us. Hans is doing great and I enjoy seeing him "unfold" to be all that God has shaped him to be. It is exciting to think that we are finally doing this- we must be crazy!
Fun times...
