Pulaski. Mount Pulaski is the church that Hans interviewed with this week. The town is small- I never thought that we would go smaller than Lincoln, but God must have a sense of humor because if he gets the Youth Minister position, it is only a town of 1800... 1804 if the Webers move there! The church is a decent size, about 300 in attendance. 80 of the goes to the first sevice with very traditional music and service, the rest go to the second service which is contemporary. The student ministry has about 12-20 highschool and double that for middle school. It seems to be a younger congregation because the senior minister is only a year older than Hans, and the worship minister is younger than us!
The next step would be to meet with the elders (including me, too). We are going to try to do that next week because they want to get it started for August! I am kind of shocked that it would be so soon, but we both have seen how God has gone before us preparing a way. It turns out that Hans has served coffee to the senior minister several time at Starbucks (its funny how everything starts with coffee in our family!) This would be a full-time position and they are allowing Hans to finish school on a full-time basis. Hopefully we will have more details next week!
Okay, here's what you are really waiting for- a picture of "Hawaiin Jonah"!
