A week in Review

What a great week we had at CIY in Carbondale. It was a time to make new friends, visit with old ones, worship, dream, and remember. We did take Jonah with us and that was a challenge, but he seemed pretty adaptable.

CIY as usual was incredible. The people we went with were awesome and we thouroughly enjoyed getting to know the students at Lincoln Christian Church. I must admit that at the beginning of the summer, I had every intention of becoming a youth sponsor- I had no idea that our path would lead us to our own ministry yet. So I was a little reluctant because I did not know why I had come. Hans had the same feeling, we were wondering why we were there. We found the answer to that question- freindships. I found a good freind in the youth ministers wife and hopefully an invaluable resource on what it is like being a wife to a youth minister. We also were able to get to know the students which always seems to bless us. It got us really excited to get our hands into ministry. God is so faithful and we can see how he has blessed us with such encouragement through this past trip.

The other tidbit of news on the ministry front is that Hans passed the second round of voting. He got unanimously voted in to the position on Tuesday night. Now we need to wait for the "affimation" vote from the congregation- that will be next Sunday. We gpt introduced to the church today. The Sr. Minister wore a tie for the occasion because he said he was excited! Hans gave the communion meditation again this week and after the first service someone came up and told us they want to move to the retirement apartments and they have house we could buy on contract- he said he could work it out!

We left on Monday and got back early Saturday morning. We got back to an almost dead lizzard. Mater left us on Saturday before Abe got home. We did not say anything until he noticed it. It was sad for Abe but we got him a new one today. He kept saying "died, died". We got an older Leopard gecko and Abe named him Herbie. Pray that this one lives, because I told Hans no more money spent on lizzards. Hopefully the next pet we get will be a dog... that should be better!

We were both excited to see Abe yesterday. We really missed him and think that next year we will be taking both the boys with us, if we go. As far as Jonah goes, it seems like he changed a lot this week. He is getting stronger and trying to hold his head up more. He is also getting big! I cannot believe it. Anyway, we will put some pictures up this week!

so sorry to hear about Mater! Oh, i hope that A is doing okay. When Genie the frog left our house (after 2 years) it was really hard on the boys. It may sound silly, but it was a couple days of crying for E. He is burried in the tree line net to the road. If you have not yet burried Mater, you could add him to the reptile grave y ard at the LCC apts. ;) Missing you all. Stay cool, it hot here over 100 yesterday! ACK!
