Emergency

Okay, so do things like this only happen to me?

The other day, I came down and was greeting a new day with screaming hungry kids and the taste of frustration already on my mouth. I went to turn the TV on and it came up with red emergency screen. So I changed the channel. It was on every channel so I read the caption and it said "The emergency broadcast system and issued a state of emergency for the following areas: The United States."....

Uh, I went to the radio and checked there- on NPR. I got the same type of emergency warning. My next step- go to the internet. Which I found nothing relevent to a state of emergency so, I called the State Police... surely they would know. Well they did not- they said there was no emergency and then they told me about how the cable company is actually responsible for setting the swith to "on".

SO my next call was to the cable company and it turns out that someone had accidentally hit the "switch". Now , I have 2 questions. 1. Why is the cable company responsible the "switch"? and 2. If or when the United States is under a state of emergencey, why does the warning have to sound like severe weather?

Just some random thoughts!
